LAKE BLED, SLOVENIA

It is the season now. Once you check photos for this place on Google images you would know how magnificent this spot is.

The Lake is surrounded with green trees and plants from everywhere and very suitable for a nice short hike.

LOCATION

Lake Bled is a lake in the Julian Alps northwestern Slovenia. The lake is 55 km from the capital city, Ljubljana.

GET THERE (To Ljubljana and Lake Bled)

Ljubljana could be reached from several places, it has an airport (LJU) but usually, it’s easier to get there from surrounding cities like Budapest, Zagreb or some Italian cities on the border or a bit further.

From Budapest, Hungary: it is 468.55 km drive, you can take the Train, the direct one takes 8h14mins which leave from Budapest at 8:30 am and arrives Ljubljana at 16:44 pm > Book online it is very easy to use the website and affordable, this is the one I used, it is comfortable and the view from the train between the mountains was amazing.

Or use Bus, FlixBus, fastest one could be 6h20mins and you have several buses a day.

From Zagreb, Croaria: is the nearest city to Ljubljana, around 143 km drive, fastest bus, FlixBus, takes 2h15mins and the ticket is less than €15 one-way. There are other bus lines like črnja tours and Eurolines

From some Italian cities > Venice: there are shuttle buses from the center or Venice Airports through TripstAir, fastest bus is 2h54mins and also you can use FlixBus, prices don’t go above €20 one-way.

Bologna: Fastest bus takes 5h45mins; you can use night buses too from Eurolines or FlixBus.

>>>From Ljubljana there are shuttle buses to Bled from the main station in Ljubljana, you could check the schedule on the website but can buy the ticket from the station directly.

ACCOMMODATION

I have stayed in Airbnb (Use the link for travel credit) in Ljubljana and usually one day for bled is enough.

THINGS TO DO

Get yourself a pack of snack and a bottle of wine or juice, or fruits, and find a good spot to chill, if you find other people around don’t be shy to talk with them and ask them to take photos for you, this place is a natural photo studio

Food: I have tasted really good dishes and food in Slovenia; try to eat some of their Balkan offerings Burek (like a pie stuffed with cheese, spinach, or meet), burger in a pita, grilled meat and some other options.
